Controversial Charisma
In a video production context:
I want Eye Contact tech to become more readily available.
The automated software, that is. To replace a teleprompter during a recorded read of this or that text or script.
The software looks fantastic, if not uncanny, and still very attractive to me at this early stage. It's still better than watching someone read something while looking off to the side.
I need to improve my public speaking.
This simple fix would create better content as I don't care about being an excellent YouTube speaker with all the fake hand gestures and manipulative movements meant to hypnotize people into following.
I don't want to learn these tactics personally as I would prefer it be implied automatically with natural human Charisma while not having to overcome personal traits such as my inability to be fake as fuck and mimic Charisma with specific movements and gestures.
I don't care to manipulate someone who does not like me or my artwork.
But intrinsically, I want more people to understand what I am doing to spread more inspiration throughout the land. And ultimately, I could feed whatever creative machine with rent and supplies money.
For me, memorizing text and performing as a public speaker are not my passions.
I respect this skill. Actors are very good at short-term memory.
Performance is a thing that some artists do while others do not.
A painter is also a performer if they have the skill to create in real-time, like an improvisationalist. Do we need or really want painters to be performers? It is novel, but ultimately, who gives a fuck. I want to see the painting. Live painting is one of those art forms like performance art, which sometimes seems lame to me. Watching someone perform a prayer ceremony with themselves is not that interesting to me. Meditation could be art, but this appears narcissistic if presented that way. Meditation is an inner experience with purpose. Not so much entertainment value for others? Call me crazy. But to express that 'Everything is Art! ...
Yeah? And nothing is art, too. How bout dat? We out here. Cue the Hendrix because I'm starving. Porcelain Urinal in the MOMA.
Jazz musicians perform within the confines of a particular structure.
But they are not manifesting music from a vacuum. Artists generally pick themes to which to apply their creative patina.
A visual artist will apply the Pollock vibe to their creative work in hopes that it does not mimic but instead explores newer versions of the idea that cause further awe.
This is part of what propels variation and theme in all genres.
The main point is that for some, eye contact will remove a dumb barrier, and some artists may be more able to get their work out there.
Being able to focus on the variety of whatever they do.
Those without a human advocate, the AI-assisted version of you, will be better than nobody.
I will never pretend that I am an excellent public speaker or performer. Not interested in learning all that. I have too much to do.
But I realize I need this person in my life.
Eye Contact technology and the ability of AI to re-direct our intentions in whatever currently rudimentary ways seem like a good thing.
To help us in ways where we need to practice more. Things like knowing grammar or being able to perform on stage are optional. As that is not my art. I'm a recording artist. It is built into the name. I am not a savvy literary technician. But I do have ideas that come, like the seven-year Locus. Let it ride then, eh? Let's do this. I can.
The Luddites will scorn me for not developing my presentation skills.
My argument is that I have no interest. I don't care if an AI showrunner brings me onstage if I control the showrunner. I'm repeating myself. Maybe I'm all puffy and huffy, dealing with the future gremlins I can see hobbling in my direction. As I can see, their minds scrape against the rust. And hear their thoughts in my eyes like beacons or lighthouses in a storm.
I can taste their grey colors. Many have the opinion of the artist as this one type of thing. Artists are as different from people as are their methods and motivations. You can't control them, so why try?
It all depends on what you are doing and what you make with whatever you are working with. And if it rules.
This is who you are.
Not the part where you are trying to tell others who you are or how you follow the rules like a good boy.
That is the fake elephant in the room trying to make sense of the complicated psychology that has been changing you into something you are not your whole life.
