Paper Off a Cliff - A Notebook of Lyrics by Brice Frillici

In 'Paper Off a Cliff', I bare my artistic process and soul in a highly visual and unfiltered journey of an artist who has chosen to embrace the entirety of their experience – the good, the bad, and the beautifully complex. The chaos of life is a symphony.

Diving into the abyss of your psyche is less about the fall and more about what you yell on the way down. The darkness, the depression, and the flirtations with the edge are like footnotes in my biography; the plot sometimes reads like a twisted psychological thriller.

These words and pages of manic, desperate poetry are an existential punching bag. As Klosterman might say about the paradox of pop culture, it's an escape from and a confrontation with reality. My art follows a script and is a multi-level paradox and method for processing existence's absurdity and making sense of the senseless.

Therapeutic, like a late-night, caffeine-fueled debate about the existential crisis in a Tarantino movie. It acknowledges the darkness, then pokes it with a stick to see what squirms. It is finding narrative within the chaos of truth in a world that often feels like a team of overworked, underpaid sitcom writers are in charge of scripting our every step.

It's finding the irony in pain, the humor in despair, and the universal truth in personal suffering while stealthily avoiding self-pity and aiming for self-aware introspection that borders on absurdity.

I am still wild and free.

Am I an alchemist?

If so, come closer to me.

Inspired by the raw spirit of outliers like Cohen, Bukowski, Bangs, Welsh, Klosterman, and Burroughs, my creations delve into deep psychological and poetic territories of the underdog.

Journey through themes that weave the fabric of human existence – love, culture, self-perception, life and death, and the intricacies of interpersonal relationships. Dialogue with myself and other times with the world. I know the freedom to seek out the original in a world of echoes.

My creative process is as untamed as the art it produces. I find inspiration everywhere and anywhere – a dimly lit bar, the third beer in hand, sitting alone at a campfire, or raging keg parties amidst the buzz of hedonistic life around me. This is where creativity strikes, unannounced and unbridled.

I capture these moments in a notepad, turning them into the raw material for my art. This chaotic yet meticulously organized method has been the bedrock of prolific output, enabling me to weave past inspirations into new, compelling narratives—a solid connection to the Muse.
